We start our unique Grand Walking Tour in Athens from our meeting point, the Syntagma Metro Station, at about 08.30 am, just outside of the House of the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the traditional Presidential Guards. Then we will walk down Univeristy Avenue, and we will see the Nomismatic Museum (ex-residence of Heinrich Schliemann who was an archaeological excavator of the site of Troy, along with the Mycenaean sites Mycenae and Tiryns), the Academy, the Libary and the Univeristy of Athens!
Afterwards we will use the Metro and we will get off at Acropolis Station. We will first visit the Roman Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Zeus. We continue our tour heading to our next stop, the New Museum of Acropolis which is recently awarded as one of the best musuems worldwide. A good idea for a coffee break is the café at the top of the museum and with breathtaking view to the Acropolis which is only a few meters away.
A few minutes later, we pass by the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and we then reach at the trademark of Greece, Acropolis, where we will admire the unique monuments of Parthenon, Propylaia, Karyatides and much more, as well as you will have a breathtaking view to the city of Athens.
The third part of our tour includes a visit at the Mars Hill, the place where Apostle Paul preached the word of God to the great Athenian philosophers.
After a few minutes we will reach heart of ancient Athens, the Ancient Agora. Next to the Ancient Agora, we will have another short stop for refreshments at one of the many modern cafes at the area around where the majority of greek people enjoy their time, or for a light lunch with traditional souvlaki, at the nearby traditional tavernas.
At the last part of our walking tour we will visit the Flea Market of Monastiraki and the traditional area of Plaka where it is also the tourist center of Athens for shopping. We finish our tour at about 16.30 at the Metro station of Monastiraki. (approx. 8 hours Tour)
